How to Choose a Packaging Machine for Powder and Granule Products

To choose a packaging machine for powders or granules, define the product's flow behaviour, your pack weight range, target pouches per minute, film specification, available power and compressed air, required accessories, and the supplier's service reach — in that order.

Step 1 — Classify your product

Free-flowing granule, fine powder, or irregular piece? This single answer narrows you to a cup filler, an auger filler or a multi-head weigher.

Step 2 — Lock your pack range

Collar-type machines are supplied for specific ranges: 10–100 gm, 200 gm–1 kg, 1–5 kg and 5–10 kg. Buying a range you will not use adds cost; ignoring a future SKU forces a second machine.

Step 3 — Convert demand into PPM

Divide your monthly pouch requirement by working hours and apply an 80–85% efficiency factor before you compare quotes.

Step 4 — Confirm film and seal

Heat sealable laminate or LDPE in roll form, centre seal or side seal, and printed registration all affect uptime more than any other consumable decision.

Step 5 — Check your utilities

Most Joypac machines need 3–7 KW at 440 V 3-phase 50 Hz, and 8–18 CFM of compressed air at 6–8 kg bar. Undersized air is the most common cause of disappointing output.

Step 6 — Plan the line, not the machine

  • Z-type bucket elevator or screw conveyor to feed the hopper
  • Pouch take-up conveyor for finished packs
  • Date coding printer and nitrogen flushing where required
  • Servo stabiliser and air compressor sized for the plant

Step 7 — Weigh the supplier, not just the price

Ask about material grades in writing, PLC brand, spare availability and engineer response time. Joypac manufactures in Cherlapally, Hyderabad under ISO 9001:2015 with in-house engineering, so spares and service come from the people who built the machine.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way to start automatic pouch packing?
A semi-pneumatic chute-type cup filler such as the Joypac JPW-SPCCF, which runs 25–30 PPM on 10 gm to 1 kg packs with a 1 m² footprint and 3 KW power.
How long does delivery and installation take?
Contact Joypac with your product and pack range for a current lead time; installation and operator training are carried out by Joypac engineers at your plant.
